I'm guessing you either zoomed in with the camera, or felt very confident that the snake wasn't poisonous, to get this close shot.

I love snakes. We have lots of harmless ones around where we live, but I don't remember exactly what they are. We've actually had at least three sneak into the house... upstairs! It was an ordeal removing them...
